The hiking trail that leads to the Biserujka Cave offers a unique experience to lovers of nature, hiking and caves. This 17-km-long trail will allow you to enjoy the scenic beauty of Krk before discovering the island’s most famous karst formation.

From the centre of Omišalj, head towards the main island road, cross it at the intersection for the airport, and continue along the walking trail that leads to the Biserujka Cave. With an unforgettable view of the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera, enjoy the gentle landscape with its shrubby vegetation, dry stone walls and the scent of pines and wild-growing herbs. Along the way, you will most likely meet some pilgrims walking the well-known Camino Krk route.

This hiking trail leads to a unique karst feature, the Biserujka Cave, which was one of the first in Croatia opened to visitors, who have been captivated by stories of its past role in hiding smugglers’ treasure ever since. The cave, 111 metres long and 13 metres deep, consists of four chambers and features numerous stalactites and stalagmites of various sizes and shapes. It is famous for its rich cave fauna, and the remains of a cave bear were also found there.

Along the route, we recommend visiting the picturesque Slivanjska Cove, located not far from the cave, and the hamlet of Rudine, which seems to resist the influence of modern times, its well-preserved rural architecture bearing witness to the former life of local farmers and fishermen. After walking through the rugged karst landscape and enjoying the scent of the sea, join the road, which will bring you back to the centre of Omišalj.
