Immortele trail offers a unique experience to lovers of nature and fragrant Mediterranean plants

The picturesque cove of Voz, located in the northeastern part of the island of Krk, is the first attraction of this Golden Island that visitors encounter when arriving from the mainland. The Immortelle Trail begins at the parking lot immediately after the Krk Bridge. This undemanding circular route offers a unique experience to lovers of nature and fragrant Mediterranean plants. Whether you are a hiking enthusiast or just looking for a quiet place to relax, this trail cannot fail to delight.

The route leads through a beautiful karst landscape full of immortelle, a plant known for its medicinal properties and distinctive scent. This trail is particularly attractive in spring and summer, when immortelle is in full bloom and gives you the opportunity to enjoy its scents and colours. In addition to getting to know this plant used in the cosmetic industry and cuisine, you will also become acquainted with some of the interesting history of this part of ​​the island of Krk.

Its location in the immediate vicinity of Cape Vošćica, where Krk is closest to the mainland (as the Tihi Channel is only 500 metres wide here) made this cove significant in local history. In ancient times, a small trading port was located here, probably also a customs station, while recent archaeological research showed the existence of a military camp. Numerous remains of a fort, iron spears, as well as part of a Roman road, indicate that this is where the famous battle between Caesar and Pompey took place in 49 BC. The strategic importance of this locality is confirmed by the remains of the Frankopan fort at Vošćica, as well as the later Venetian fort Maltempo.

This 8.7-km-long trail will take you to the Voz Cave, Cape Vošćica, and the attractive coastal path under the magnificent Krk Bridge.
